Further evidence that we are raising a nerd:
At 17 months, one of the Tominator's favorite pastimes is to take himself up to his bedroom, climb up in his rocker, turn on his CD player (which we keep stocked with Mozart) and read a book. To himself.
I am both extremely proud and afraid for him.
So far the score is:
Jock: 1 - He likes to watch football. He's the only one in the family who feels this way.
Drama Geek: 1 - He has an unhealthy fascination with my blush brush.
Nerd: 2 - Aforementioned book/music thing; also the superhero obsession.
Puberty is going to be so hard for him.

Oh, don't worry about it- My little one- 4yo- went through the make up fascination faze, is still in the superhero faze- don't think they ever really grow out of that- and all time favorite show is Little Einsteins. Hey it's classical music! As for the football, I'm so sorry! I am so happy to be married to a Texan who DOESN'T care for football! We much prefer baseball around here!
Also, remember, Bill Gates was/is a nerd- his $$ makes him so much more attractive!
Oh, I had a little boy like that once.
He acted in plays and got to wear make-up.
He drew his own super-hero cartoons.
Went to college and graduated with a 3.8.
Works in a bank. Buys Legos on line on e-bay.
Enjoys life.
There's nothing wrong with nerds! My husband and I both self-identify as nerds, happily. Have you seen Weird Al's video "White and Nerdy?" My husband comes a little bit closer to that guy than I care to admit, and I couldn't love him more :)
Jen - you're right, there is nothing wrong with being a nerd. SuperHubby and I both qualify, hence the title of the post. (Nothing wrong with being a drama geek, for that matter. I am a bonifide theater rat myself.)
However, I do not envy him his high school years. It's just a little rougher for some, and it looks like he might be one of those.

I like the diversity of your kids! Cam reads books all the time too to himself. I think it's cute. But then he carries around calculators too. Maybe our sons can be nerds together.
Ooh! Ooh! We have nerds, too! I, for one, have been known to do math and chemistry problems on my own time purely for enjoyment. Michael, when he was 3, sat down with those Magnetix toys and kept himself busy for no less than 3 hours. He doesn't like football, though, and during one halftime show he and his uncle got into an argument over "the Creedence" because my son much prefers our Classical Thunder boxset. And you did hear little Gabey singing with us in Latin the other night, right? We'll just have to make sure our kids stick together through adolescence.
